VERMILION SANDS 2021
This series was inspired by my reading of J.G. Ballard’s short stories book, “Vermilion Sands”.
In his forewords, Ballard explains that he wanted to discover the connection between certain feelings and sophisticated landscapes. He also though about De Chirico little town squares, actualized and translated as functional multi-storey car parks, and the exploration of a universe totally dominated by trends and fantasies, the neoclassicism of advertising and commercial iconography.
I felt i had to try to translate the strange and surreal world in which this stories take place, and accept the challenge to concretize the mental images his words gave birth to.
